We went through the official menus of the big beer tents, compared prices and wrote down where you will actually get a proper vegan meal, which side dishes are traps, and what the festival costs animals every year. Quick answer: Can you eat vegan at Oktoberfest?<\/p>\n

Yes, in every big beer tent. According to the Munich animal welfare society, more than 51,000 vegan and around 123,000 vegetarian dishes were sold in 2025. For Oktoberfest 2026 (19 September to 4 October) the menus include lentil salad with pumpkin falafel at Augustiner (14.80 euros), vegetable schnitzel at the Br\u00e4urosl (19.90 euros), vegetable strudel at L\u00f6wenbr\u00e4u (21.90 euros) and jackfruit goulash at the Schottenhamel (24.50 euros). Pretzels, radish and the beer are vegan anyway. Watch out for sauerkraut, red cabbage and Bavarian potato salad, which often contain bacon or meat stock.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Oktoberfest 2026: dates, prices, facts<\/h2>\n

The 191st Oktoberfest runs from 19 September to 4 October 2026<\/strong> on the Theresienwiese in Munich. A Ma\u00df (one litre of beer) costs between 14.80 and 15.90 euros this year according to Wiesnkini, a few cents more than in 2025 depending on the tent. Food prices are climbing too: half a roast chicken ranges from 16.90 euros at the Ochsenbraterei to 23.50 euros at the Fischer-Vroni and K\u00e4fer Wiesn-Sch\u00e4nke, according to Watson, and cheese spaetzle cost between 17.90 euros (Augustiner) and 23.90 euros (Armbrustsch\u00fctzenzelt).<\/p>\n

The number we care about more: the vegan selection has stayed stable since 2022, even though demand has dropped since Wiesnkini started tracking it. The festival management writes in its 2025 final report that demand for vegetarian and vegan dishes has “settled at a stable level”. Almost every big tent now lists at least two vegan main courses, some also vegan soups, spreads and desserts. The days when vegans lived on pretzels and radish are over. About one in five visitors comes from abroad, which is one reason most tents now print their menus in English as well.<\/p>\n

Vegan dishes in the big beer tents 2026<\/h2>\n

We evaluated the 2026 menus the tent operators had published by 7 September: Augustiner, Br\u00e4urosl, L\u00f6wenbr\u00e4u, Schottenhamel and the Festzelt Tradition on the Oide Wiesn (the “old Oktoberfest” area). For Hofbr\u00e4u and the Weinzelt we rely on the prices already reported by Wiesnkini. All prices include service and can still change during the festival.<\/p>\n

Augustiner-Festhalle: the cheapest vegan tent<\/h3>\n

Augustiner remains the best-value tent at Oktoberfest, for vegans too. Under “Vital, Vegetarian & Vegan” you will find a marinated mountain lentil salad with pumpkin falafel and fresh cress for 14.80 euros<\/strong> and durum wheat pasta with tomato and vegetable bolognese for 15.50 euros<\/strong>. Both are honest, filling dishes, nothing gimmicky. Add the second-cheapest beer of the festival. If you want to save money and still sit in a big tent, this is the place.<\/p>\n

Br\u00e4urosl: vegetable schnitzel with potato-cucumber salad<\/h3>\n

The Br\u00e4urosl has two explicitly vegan-labelled main courses in 2026: two vegetable schnitzels<\/strong> made from kohlrabi and celeriac in Bavarian panko breadcrumbs, served with potato-cucumber salad and vegan herb mayonnaise, and a baked sweet potato on vegan herb cream<\/strong> with roasted vegetables and local herb oil. Both cost 19.90 euros. The Hokkaido pumpkin soup is on the menu as well, worth asking whether it is made without cream.<\/p>\n

Hofbr\u00e4u-Festzelt: vegan currywurst and vegetable patties<\/h3>\n

The Hofbr\u00e4u tent, the one with the most international crowd, offers vegetable patties (Gem\u00fcsepflanzl) for 19.30 euros<\/strong> and a vegan currywurst for 19.80 euros<\/strong>, according to the 2026 prices reported by Wiesnkini. The currywurst is the classic for anyone who needs something hearty after the second Ma\u00df.<\/p>\n

L\u00f6wenbr\u00e4u-Festhalle: vegetable strudel and vegan pumpkin soup<\/h3>\n

L\u00f6wenbr\u00e4u goes with a vegetable strudel on tomato-basil ragout with roasted chanterelles for 21.90 euros<\/strong>. As a starter there is a vegan-labelled pumpkin cream soup with roasted pumpkin seeds for 9.80 euros<\/strong>. Careful with the K\u00e4ssp\u00e4tzle: they are Swabian style with cream and Emmental, so vegetarian, not vegan.<\/p>\n

Schottenhamel: organic chickpea curry and jackfruit goulash<\/h3>\n

The Schottenhamel, where the mayor traditionally taps the first keg, has the most ambitious vegan line-up in 2026: a vegan curry with organic chickpeas, baked organic cauliflower, organic rice and vegan cr\u00e8me fra\u00eeche for 23.50 euros<\/strong> and a vegan goulash made from organic jackfruit with potatoes, peppers and oat cream for 24.50 euros<\/strong>. There is also the “Veggi Brettl” board with beetroot hummus, marinated Bavarian organic tofu and vegan patties, but it comes mixed with cheese and egg, so only vegan on request. The menu lists ingredient origins and allergens in detail, which makes ordering easier.<\/p>\n

Weinzelt: from pumpkin-parsnip ragout to vegan patties<\/h3>\n

The Weinzelt (wine tent) is the most expensive tent at Oktoberfest but has the widest vegan choice: pumpkin and parsnip ragout with Schupfnudeln, a kind of potato noodle (21.00 euros)<\/strong>, vegan pasta (19.50 euros), vegan bratwurst (19.90 euros), grilled vegetables (23.00 euros) and vegan patties (28.00 euros). At 28 euros the patties are the priciest vegan main course we found in 2026.<\/p>\n

Festzelt Tradition (Oide Wiesn): “Bavarian-vegan”<\/h3>\n

On the Oide Wiesn, the Festzelt Tradition runs its own “Bayrisch-Vegan” section: three vegan spreads<\/strong> (fine, coarse and truffled) with radish, radishes and baguette for 16.50 euros, and a potato goulash with mushrooms, celeriac and peppers for 17.80 euros<\/strong>. The old-Bavarian potato soup with diced vegetables and fried onions (7.80 euros) is labelled vegan too. The Oide Wiesn needs a separate ticket, but it is calmer and more family-friendly than the big tents.<\/p>\n
