On 24 September 2026, the campaign account @schlachthofprozess (\u201cslaughterhouse trial\u201d) published photos of the musician with both of them, holding a cardboard sign: \u201cUndercover investigation is not a crime\u201d. They were sued, are supposed to pay damages and may no longer show their own footage. \u201c@moby stands with Anna and Hendrik,\u201d the post reads. The footage shows groups of pigs being lowered into a pit of highly concentrated carbon dioxide. The organisation Animal Rights Watch published it, and German public broadcaster ARD picked it up. The company responded with a criminal complaint and a civil lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>The Regional Court of Oldenburg ruled on 11 June 2025. On appeal, the Higher Regional Court of Oldenburg delivered its judgment on 9 June 2026 (case no. 13 U 45\/25):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Liability in principle:<\/strong> both are liable for the damage caused by the recordings and their distribution. The amount will be decided in separate proceedings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Injunction and ban from the premises:<\/strong> Anna Schubert must stop distributing the footage, and neither may enter the site again.<\/li>\n<li><strong>No blanket ban:<\/strong> the court rejected a broader ban on future publications. Posts by third parties remain lawful.<\/li>\n<li><strong>No appeal allowed:<\/strong> the two announced they would challenge this at the Federal Court of Justice. We have not found a decision on that so far.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A statement by the Lower Saxony food safety authority LAVES, which fed into the judgment, found that the legal maximum of 20 to 30 seconds between stunning and sticking \u201cappears not to have been met in any case\u201d. They are lowered in gondolas into a shaft with a carbon dioxide concentration of around 90 percent. The gas irritates the mucous membranes, and the pigs gasp for air and panic before losing consciousness. The European Food Safety Authority criticised the method as early as 2004 and recommended phasing it out. It is still legal under EU law, mainly because it is fast and stuns many animals at once.<\/p>\n<p>The public almost never sees what happens inside slaughterhouses. Violations often only come to light through footage like the recordings from Lohne.
