Cologne is a beautiful big city in North Rhine-Westphalia and has some great vegan restaurants to offer. When you visit the beautiful city on the Rhine, you won’t have to look far for plant-based food. As big cities are wont to do, there is also a great selection of vegan food spots. In this article we show you our favorite vegan restaurants in Cologne.
Eating vegan in conventional restaurants
Of course, you’ll now find plant-based options on the menu at many “regular” restaurants. Especially if you are traveling with people who don’t eat vegan, you still have a good chance to order a delicious vegan meal in Cologne. Especially the well-known chains like Hans im Glück, Peter Pane, Vapiano, Extrablatt, Losteria and Café del Sol have several vegan dishes to choose from. Recently, even the well-known steakhouse The Ash has started serving a vegan steak from the 3D printer.
So, if you don’t mind that the restaurant serves animal dishes, you will find something vegan almost everywhere. In traditional Cologne restaurants and pubs, on the other hand, there will be less choice. You’ll probably have to settle for fries and salad there. Still, it’s always worth asking the staff about vegan options. Sometimes it’s not explicitly on the menu, but many restaurants can often prepare vegan dishes to order. Of course, this is highly dependent on the kitchen staff and the food available.
Vegan restaurants in Cologne - Our favorites

Vietnamese organic restaurant "Well Being
The Vietnamese organic restaurant Well Being is so popular that there are 2 of them in Cologne. Here you will find traditional Vietnamese dishes in vegan. In addition, no flavor enhancers are used. Everyone gets their money’s worth here. For example, there are vegan duck and chicken, tofu pockets, curries and salads.
Not only do they cook without glutamate – they also place a high value on fresh ingredients, organic to fu and vegetables. Of course, they do not use flavor enhancers; artificial additives and no genetically modified foods.
The ambiance is cozy and we always recommend making reservations in advance as both restaurants are very popular.
